Gathering of Eagles

Well, if you watched it on the news, thousands of Americans came out last weekend to call for an end to the war. Which war? Bushco’s war.  Oh, the war in Afghanistan, too?  No war for oil.  What about the gathering of terrorists in Somalia? Bush lied. What will happen if we leave the region? Support our troops, bring them home now.  Will Iran invade a large portion of Iraq if we leave?  Impeach Bush.  Which side is the bumper sticker side again?

Of course, there was little to no mention in the irrelevant but widespread media about the Gathering of Eagles, where supporters of the mission gathered to show the colors.  Skye of Ancora Imparo and Midnight Blue has picked up video equipment and entered the vlogosphere.  Check out her post here (link). I’m envious that she got to meet one of my favorite blog-icons Michelle Malkin, who also covered the event (link).

On a related note, Michelle Malkin’s blog mentioned the whitewash of the vandalism of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall. (link) The first Gathering of Eagles was to protect against the memorial’s threatened defacement, so it looks like the anti-war vandals struck pre-emptively. You can be sure that if the Eagles defaced a peace monument, it would be included in all reports of their rally.

This demonstrates one of the challenges of being more of a traditional concerned American. I’ve found it to be a fact that a lot of the traditionally most-utilized news outlets report the news with an agenda that does not benefit the United States, however, I can’t bring myself to interfere with their commerce. As much as I’d like to, I can’t put a snarky “Democrat-approved” or “100% Politically Correct” sticker on the New York Times in a store. Our code doesn’t include shouting others down, rather it’s delivering a message in an honest, appropriate, and respectful way. However, the other side doesn’t play by the same rules, and their willing accomplices in the irrelevant but widespread media don’t call the game fairly.  Though the world’s not fair, every individual who posts about this helps to make it more equitable.

We’re still in the intense infant stage at the TRE nuclear family shelter, so I got to spend the weekend hanging out wishing I could go to a counter-protest, and working on my single speed bicycle, reading, checking fantasy football scores, and cleaning the cosmoline out of an SKS.
