2008

It looks like Fred Thompson might be bowing out soon.  In reading other blogs who’re thinking of a backup plan, I’m having a tough time. My regular reads like Random Nuclear Strikes (link), Snowflakes in hell (link), and Michelle Malkin (she’s not a Fred supporter though it seems like she’s in the same boat), all seem to be contemplating what to do.

Here’s my key problems:

  1. It should be obvious that I’m not going to vote for the wicked witch of illinois/arkansas/new york. Nor John “Lenin” Edwards, or Barry H. O’Bama. I’d rather shoot myself.
  2. Romney is probably the glam’est backup candidate, but his committed anti 2nd Amendment stance makes him a no-go. In addition to a few other things, I’m not interested.
  3. McCain likes to be popular with people, and I feel like his decisions are motivated by what will make people like him. He’s SCREWED us with McCain-Feingold by giving the mass media and unions more electoral power than ever, and then he wants to bring in a hundred million others to the fold to vote “D”.  Who’s to really say he won’t go “maverick” on us with gun control? You gotta figure it’ll be a popular view for his North Vietnamese controllers media pals.
  4. Huckabee: dude, I don’t think Jesus Christ was a socialist.
  5. Rudy: wanna hear more about his divorces and weird arrangements for his cohorts in New York? Nominate him.

I have a tough time with third party votes.  Should I abstain?  Maybe vote for congressional candidates but not the President?
