Hot New Free Speech Advocate

Welcome to PC World!

Not that the gay community would come to me for advice, but I’d recommend that they stop stifling others’ free speech to preserve the sympathy people like me have for their cause. Knock this stuff off (link):

Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA on Sunday, but the big story to come out of the normally politics-free telecast was Miss California’s comments regarding gay marriage.

When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was “saddened” by Prejean’s statement.

“As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman,” said Lewis in a statement. “I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family.”

For one thing, if that last sentence is accurate, the level of retardation in the statement may be unprecedented.

Why would you ask her if it’s a “litmus test”?  If she has her reasons to disagree with you, she should be allowed to. I’m inclined to argue that there’s no Constitutional limit to what gays can do, and if two men or two women want to enter a civil contract for things like inheritance, wills, and other stipulations that marriage law provides, I could care less.  But to claim discrimination and then dish it out when someone doesn’t share your opinion is nonsense, and is more evidence of the post prop 8 vitriol from the “gay community”. This type of stuff loses my sympathy for their cause.

Anyway, if nothing else, we have an attractive new free speech advocate who’s seen what the vicious, secularist left can do.

    Typical of the gay mafia.

I noticed in the piece you quoted, they left off the first part of her response where she said how great it was that we live in a country where people can choose which gender to marry. All they really included was the part where she said that she believed that it should be between a man and a woman. Very selective editing of a rather short response.

Does make you wonder if that Lewis guy thinks that if a religion believes in polygamy or child marriages that we should all be supportive of it. After all, he wants religion (and specifically religious beliefs on marriage) excluded from the Miss California competition.

Yeah, I guess when you really think about it, the Miss USA organization is mostly at fault for their judgement of putting Perez Hilton on the panel.
