Football Buzzkill

Watching the pre-game of Sunday night football for the first time in a while, I realized that Keith Olbermann is still part of the broadcast.  I can’t even listen to the guy’s voice without becoming irate.  He’s on MSNBC (the President of The United States’ favorite network) nightly saying terrible and false things about people.  Recently, he referred to Michelle Malkin as a “mashed up bag of meat with lipstick on” (link).  What’s funny about that is that I’ve been looking for an apt description of White House reporter Helen Thomas for so long and it took Keith Olbermann to give it to me.  I find this to be unacceptable, even if one found Mrs. Malkin’s views abhorrent (I tend to agree with her). In fact, this isn’t broadcast-worthy speech, I’d consider it fighting words.  Speaking of Olbermann and fighting words, I’d pay good money to see a candid video of him being punched in the mouth.

What’s funny to me is that with all the folks in the sports and fossil media world who took the last week to lash out at Rush Limbaugh, saying how he “doesn’t represent the NFL” at best and slandering him at worst, that having an Olbermann on NBC is somehow beneficial?  If football is to be free of politics, why not get rid of Olbermann’s part-time commentating and let him focus on misogynistic rants on the sister “news” network?

I wondered if anyone else would feel this way. I could not watch (after wanting to see the subject matter) with this person announcing either. Sad for football.

An excellent poitn, this guy is so outrageous, so polarizing, and so low class it is simply amazing that he is still allowed any role with the NFL broadcasts.
