Vince Carroll on Debunking 9/11 Myths

A good piece by Victor Davis Hanson: Mr. Bush’s Communication Problem.

Iranian Wack-job Ahmadi Nejeezy Challenges President Bush to a televised debate:

The Iranian president also said Israel’s creation is a “tale” and called the Jewish state a threat to peace and stability in the Middle East.

“The Zionist regime has deprived the Palestinian nation and other nations of the region of a single day of peace. In the past 60 years, it has imposed tens of wars on the Palestinian nation and others,” he said.

Who’s really revising history??

Finding God at Gunpoint

Foxnews reporter Steve Centanni and cameraman Olaf Wiig were released in Gaza, thankfully.

It’s interesting that they were forced to convert to Islam at gunpoint. I recently had a conversation with some friends of my parents and this type of thing came up, and the woman said: “Well, Christianity’s been passed that way too.”

I said maybe it had, but I highly doubt it’s happening right now. There may be a slight difference between saying “we’ll give you starving people food if you pray with us” and “convert or I’ll shoot you”.

Remember, if Steve and Olaf relinquish their new faith, they are apostates:

In Islamic law (sharia), the consensus view is that a male apostate must be put to death unless he suffers from a mental disorder or converted under duress, for example, due to an imminent danger of being killed. A female apostate must be either executed, according to Shafi’i, Maliki, and Hanbali schools of Sunni Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), or imprisoned until she reverts to Islam as advocated by the Sunni Hanafi school and by Shi’a scholars.[9]

On a similar note, I recently received a postcard from my church in Denver stating that they’d noticed I changed my address to Pennsylvania, and if I didn’t respond within 60 days, they’d switch my status from “Active member” to “Former member”.

Interesting Suspect Descriptions

Could it be that there’s a policy change at the News Journal? If so, it is a change for the better. Either that or reporter Damian Gilletto is in deep poop. From today’s article “Two UD Students Robbed, Two Men Sought”, we have this:

The students, a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, were talking in the area of New London Road and Corbitt Street at about 11:30 p.m. when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and two men got out, said Lt. Thomas Lemin of Newark police.

The two men, armed with a small baseball bat or club, demanded property from the students, Lemin said.

The victims complied and then the robbers returned to their vehicle and fled towards New London Road at a high rate of speed, Lemin said.

Neither victim was hurt, Lemin said.

One suspect is described as a man with light to medium skin tone, in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall, weighing about 170 pounds, wearing a white shirt, red doo-rag on his head and a black doo-rag mask. The second suspect is described as a man with a medium to dark skin tone, in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall, about 230 pounds, with short black hair, wearing a black shirt with a black doo-rag mask, Lemin said.

What kind of neanderthal carries a club these days?  It’s interesting that people never notice the exact model of car- that would really help to increase the odds. “Dark-colored” car doesn’t narrow it down enough.

I remember that Newark seemed to be getting worse when I lived there (1996-98), but now it seems a lot worse. Not the time to be PC.

What Did You Expect?

You didn’t seriously expect Iran to agree to sanction-threat-sparing nuclear moratorium, did you? As predicted, the Iranian response was not as the UN proposed, and Russia is now helping them to kill the clock until their bomb is complete.

“I know of no instances in world practice and previous experience in which sanctions have achieved their aim and proved effective,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov told reporters… Read More

Keep Your Friends Close-

I love my Springfield Armory XD .40 Sub-compact.  I bought it for $410 (plus tizzax) at Dave’s Guns’ Anniversary last year (good luck matching the price!).  I took it to the range tonight but thought it looked pretty before cleaning:

Best Wedding Gift Ever

I got married a little over a year ago, and got the best gift a guy could want, a Spyderco Native with a 3″ blade. This is an extremely compact, useful, and reliable knife.

Maybe it’s not super-PC, but I don’t really flash it.  It’s never had a problem cutting anything, though I did find that even with its stainless blade it collected some rust here on the East coast. Speaking of which, one gets really spoiled living in the arid climate of Colorado.  Read More

Here’s the last part in Publicola’s “Violence Begets Violence” series.

I think the quality of his writing is worthy of starting with this quote from Jeff Cooper:

“One bleeding-heart type asked me in a recent interview if I did not agree that ‘violence begets violence.’ I told him that it is my earnest endeavor to see that it does. I would like very much to ensure — and in some cases I have — that any man who offers violence to his fellow citizen begets a whole lot more in return than he can enjoy.” -Jeff Cooper, “Cooper vs. Terrorism”, Guns & Ammo Annual, 1975

I wish I knew of Publicola prior to leaving Denver. Seems like someone that would’ve enjoyed a (cardboard) Zombie (def #1, not #2) target shoot in the National Forest.

Rep Steven Cappelli (R) Rocks

PA State Rep. Steven Cappelli (R), has proposed “stand your ground” laws for Pennsylvania’s CCW permitees. Basically, this would extend the “Castle Doctrine” to occupied vehicles.  I need to do some more research, but if it upsets liberal media-types, I’m totally thrilled!

Besides, what does his proposal say that’s not included here:

“The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.” Article 1, Section 21. (PA State Constitution)

Of course, this makes far too much sense to stand alone.  The AP picked it up, of course, and put a spin on it without reading the constitution’s provision.  And one can’t publish anything about guns without a statement from the Brady Center for Violence.

Let me say it here and now:  If you’re someone who’s willing to carjack someone or trespass in their house to rob them or do worse, I think the (approximately) $.20 to $.60 spent on the bullet that ends your pathetic existence is extravagance you don’t deserve.

“Don Vito” Accused of Sexually Assaulting Two 12 Year Olds

Ok, so a fat nothing makes tons of money being beat up by his punk nephew, and he can’t hold it together. Don Vito from MTV’s Jackass and Viva la Bam (Margera) got arrested for sexually assaulting two twelve year old girls.  What did you expect?  Accurate Prediction (will be numbered after it happens): a) Bam OD’s, b) Don Vito has massive coronary.
